Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
I'd love to have him preform again, maybe at a New Community! That boy can sing. The record attendance is wonderful. However, I think it would be a mistake to focus only on how Patrick has overcome and adaptated. I certainly don't want to take away from that, but was anyone else blown away by his obedience?! He not only overcomes obstacles in his everyday life that we will never face but, allows us to be blessed by opening his life to us! Patrick follows the calling on his life. I think that is what's most remarkable about him. It is my hope that we all take away not only perspective (which is relative anyway, but that's another matter) but a desire to walk the path the Lord has set before us. May we all be as bold as that!

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
Kyle, ditto on that! God is amazing in how He is using this young man (and his pop) to reach the multitudes. I fell blessed by the experience too. Grace

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
God has certainly blessed Patrick Henry. He gives us so much to be thankful for and yet we take it all for granted. We grumble at small things. What a beautiful reminder Patrick Henry is.

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
That was just amazing. What a miracle. He was such a wonderful singer and so good at the piano. I can see and I can't even play that good! I think that people every day take for granted what they have, like our eyes, who'd have ever thought that having eyes, and being able to see is such a blessing. The thing about not being able to see is you basically have trust your family and just believe what they tell you, like God, we can't physically see God, but we know he's there, and we fell his presence, and I'm sure it's the same way for Patrick. I'm so amazed at how Patrick has overcome these obstacles, and is a happy person. God is so wondeful, to give someone with disabilties, such wonderful abilities. Praise the Lord. I hope Patrick can come back to Cedar Creek again someday.

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
I was certainly amazed at Patrick Henry's story, but as a parent I think I was just blown away by the attitude of his father. The amount sacrifice this man exhibits DAILY is just unreal. And his perspective of it all being such a great blessing is so profound. I honestly don't think I've ever been more inspired by any mere mortal...what a hero, indeed. I was so happy to hear they had been chosen by Extreme Home Makeover, who could be more deserving!

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
Ditto to everything that has already been said. Patrick is proof that God has a purpose for all of us -- even when we think he doesn't. His message certainly inspired me to make some changes in my life. I guess you could say he really "opened my eyes" ...

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
What Patrick said that blew me away was how he looked at his blindness not as a disability but an advantage. We who can see tend to judge others by outer appearance without getting to know who they are on the outside. But he looks at his blindness as an advantage because he can only get to know people for who they truly are on the inside. What an inspiration. If only we could all have that advantage...

Re: Patrick Henry Hughes
Proof positive once again.. God has gifted each of us uniquely. Finding and using that gift to His glory is our gift back to Him. I will never forget a past Teaching Pastor who said one Sunday -- "If you are not sharing your gift, the people sitting next to you in life are missing out." He still speaks that in my head. Many of the gifts He has given are still "diamonds in the rough"; get out there and start polishing:)
